Coil Laser Production Lines Accelerate Their Popularization, and the Leveling Process Shows Its Value

With the continuous rise in labor costs and raw material prices, the penetration rate of coil laser cutting production lines in the sheet metal industry is increasing rapidly. Compared to traditional plate procurement models, coil procurement can save 5% to 10% in material costs while enabling continuous production from uncoiling to cutting, significantly enhancing efficiency.

However, in practical applications, many enterprises have discovered that, upon introducing roll-fed laser production lines, the cutting quality is unstable, and the scrap rate is even higher than that of traditional platform cutting. Analysis has revealed that the primary reason for this is the neglect of the flattening process. After being unwound, roll-fed materials exhibit severe sheet form defects. If these materials are directly subjected to laser cutting, the variations in sheet thickness can cause focal length fluctuations, reducing the quality of the cut surface, and the release of internal stresses can result in dimensional deviations of the parts.

Industry practice indicates that adding a leveling process between uncoiling and cutting can effectively address the aforementioned issues. Taking a production line with a processing width of 1300mm and a thickness range of 0.5~3mm as an example, equipping it with a CNC leveler featuring 75mm roller diameter and 15 rollers can achieve a leveling precision of ≤±2mm/m². The feeding precision can be controlled at 1000mm±0.5mm and 6000mm±3.0mm, providing flat plates and precise feeding benchmarks for laser cutting, thereby significantly reducing the scrap rate.

As the roll-form laser production line becomes more accessible to a wider range of metal fabrication companies, the value of baling machines, which are crucial for ensuring the precision and stability of the production line, is being recognized and valued by an increasing number of industry users.
